Come hang out at our NEW WEBSITE!

Our primary goal here at FORUM artspace is to help enrich your daily life with easy access to local, national, and international art and artists, discussions and ideas. We want you to feel comfortable here, because you're among friends, but also maintain a level of order and professionalism that allows everyone to find what they're looking for.

Which is a fancy way to say we are really very proud to announce our new website, with flashy new features presented in a more sophistocated, web-sitey way. Current Exhibitions, Upcoming Events, and our Past Event Archive have been condensed and reorganized, then expanded to give you more actual content and less redundancy.  There are a few new ways to contact us, including a Contact Us tab with an in-site form, so you can reach us directly from the site without your email client open.  There's even a Links tab that lets you guys have a look at the sites we frequent on the web.

So please come and visit us regularly; even bookmark us and check back from time to time.  We're constantly adding and expanding to make this new site a hub for art-related activity.

Part of our new Contact system is our new individualized emails for each member:
General gallery inquiries  -  gallery@FORUMartspace.com
Christina Day   -   christina@FORUMartspace.com
Karl Anderson   -   karl@FORUMartspace.com
Paul Woznicki   -   paul@FORUMartspace.com
Mike Abarca   -   mike@FORUMartspace.com

So come hang out, online and at the gallery.  We look forward to seeing you soon.

Bazaarbeque III call for Submissions!

Forum Artspace is pleased to announce that we will be continuing our annual tradition of Bazaarbeque! Last year, Forum was filled with over 150 works of art by over sixty artists, both local and international.

Hung salon style, the show fills our gallery walls, ceiling, and tabletops. We are currently asking artists to submit work. Due to the sheer volume of art in the exhibition, as well as our limited space, we ask that most work be smaller than 36"x36". 3D work is also acceptable, but the scale should be comparable.

All work must be brought to Forum Artspace, hang ready, no later than Sunday, May 27th* with forms (see attached). We will then spend the next three weeks curating, and installing Bazaarbeque for the June 15th opening. This means that submitting your work will not guarentee inclusion in Bazaarbeque. The show will run until July 20th.

Also keep in mind that besides being an art exhibition, Bazaarbeque is also a cookout and potluck. We encourage every artist to make food to share, or something to throw on the grill at the the events.

Drop off times will be on Sunday, May 27th from noon until eight. If you have any questions, comments, or wish to bring work at a separate date, please contact Forum Artspace here, or one of us personally by phone. Our numbers are:

Mike Abarca: 216.870.8493
Karl Anderson: 614.378.9877
Christina Day: 330.608.8614
Paul Woznicki: 216.288.5858

*If you do not live in the Cleveland area, but wish to participate, please call us or write us. We have had work come from as far away as Los Angeles, and would be glad to try and accommodate you.

April/May at FORUM: Theoretical Limits

Forum is pleased to present Theoretical Limits: Print, Painting, and Installation Work by Christina Day, opening Friday, April 20th from 5 to 10 pm.

Theoretical Limits
Print, Painting, and Installation Work by Christina Day
A University of Akron Myers School of Art Senior BFA Exhibition

A system is a set of interacting or interdependent components forming an integrated whole. In order to clearly analyze a system's structure, the information must be encoded-- broken down into the simplest possible forms. The visualization of data is one way of organizing chaos.
System formulation has taken a distinctly digital turn, increasing our sensitivity to physical objects and space. The constructed iterations in this exhibition reside in the gray area between the theoretical and the hypertangible.

The exhibition will be on display through the closing on Friday, May 18th. We hope to see you there!

Feb/March: Made for Cutting

Made for Cutting is a collection of work from artists whose processes involve integrating imagery from different sources to construct a new image. Whether through drawing, painting, digital media, or collage, these works seek to produce meaning yet resist understanding through the act of removing and restructuring visual elements and their context. Featuring work by Michael Abarca, Melinda Laszczynski, Liz Maugans, Kaetlyn McCafferty, Adrienne Slane, and Jason Weisensell.

Opening Feb. 17th, 5p-10p
Closing Mar. 16th, 5p-10p

"Knowledge is not made for understanding; it is made for cutting."

Dec/Jan at Forum... work by Paul Woznicki

This month, FORUM features work by our very own Mr. Paul Woznicki

"Cultural Hegemony or the New Pangaea"

Paul's work explores the tools and methodologies required for the development of economic and cultural globalization, specifically the shipping container. Having revolutionized and exponentially driven down sh...ipping costs, the intermodal shipping container is a vehicle of culture, both literally and metaphorically. While it's presence and impact are integral to our quality of life, technologies, global views, and the world as we know it, they often live out of sight and out of mind.

So come on up, Friday Dec 16th 5-10p, Friday Jan 20th 5-10p, or anytime during the month by appointment! forumartspace@gmail.com
