Dec/Jan at Forum... work by Paul Woznicki

This month, FORUM features work by our very own Mr. Paul Woznicki

"Cultural Hegemony or the New Pangaea"

Paul's work explores the tools and methodologies required for the development of economic and cultural globalization, specifically the shipping container. Having revolutionized and exponentially driven down sh...ipping costs, the intermodal shipping container is a vehicle of culture, both literally and metaphorically. While it's presence and impact are integral to our quality of life, technologies, global views, and the world as we know it, they often live out of sight and out of mind.

So come on up, Friday Dec 16th 5-10p, Friday Jan 20th 5-10p, or anytime during the month by appointment! forumartspace@gmail.com

Total Recap!! New Events at Forum

After Complexity of things, Forum took a bit of time off to spend some time planning. The month off was a successful one, and we planned and delivered on two new programs.

Our first ever, Crit Night came off as a huge success. Cleveland Artist Lauren Yeager, and Akron Artist Zachariah Szabo spent the evening discussing new work with, with an intimate audience. Each crit session lasted about forty five minutes, and everyone involved was glad to be there.

Another first, Forum held an exquisite corpse drawing night. With over 20 people in attendance, the drawings were made for hours, and even spilled into the bar once we left Forum. Look out for methods of purchasing some of the wonderful creations, as we plan to put all the work to good use!

An Evolving Exhibition

We thank you, from the heart, to all who came out to the opening of The Complexity of Things and celebrated our one year anniversary with us. And it's a good thing that you came out to the opening because this is an evolving show. As I write here we are discussing the relationships between our work and it's relationship to the space. We may work back into what is presently up, hang new work, or work into each others work. We look forward to seeing you at our closing come February 18. If you couldn't make it here are some clips of what you've missed.

The Complexity of Things opens January 21st at Forum Artspace

The Complexity of Things is a four person group show whose work is tied together via the theme of relationships. Living in the twenty-first century can be synonymous with constant information bombardment. We continuously have to parse and interpret what we see, hear, and experience. This exhibition takes a moment to step back and examine the hows and whys of this process. Whether focusing on the relational interpretation in abstract language or the way we decipher and build meaning from images, The Complexity of Things focuses on the contemporary position of the global culture.
Opening: January 21st, 2011 5pm-9pm
